Project: Please Mobile Case Study
Project Goal: To create a recognisable and simple brand image for Please Mobile Communications Ltd.
Please Mobile needed…
Please mobile is a mobile phone network provider in the UK. They offer cheap local and international calls. Their primary target market are the students at colleges and universities around the UK. They wanted a bold and modern logo to grab attention and to be used online and offline. They also wanted to include purple in their brand image.
Process
In developing the logo, I first took a look at some of the major players in the telecoms industry such as Vodafone, O2 and EE. I also did some research into the symbolic form of the word ‘please’. The visual form of the word ‘please’ was conveyed as two hands. I began the creation process based on this idea.
Stepping back from the idea, I realised it looked too much like a non-profit organisation image, rather than a phone company. So I rethought my strategy, to focus on the mobile phone in the branding. I ensured the brand targeted the younger demographic, as well as looking unique in the industry it operates in. My final ideas focused on different ways a mobile phone symbol can be manipulated to match the company’s brand values and mission.
Final Piece
The logo, a mobile phone with the letter ‘P’ inside portrays a modern or futuristic feel using the company’s colour of purple. The rectangular shape of the mobile phone implies a professional and trustworthy brand. While the ‘P’ shape inside denotes a brand which is bold and efficient in its activities. Overall this logo represents the brand values of Please Mobile to its best, professional, bold, sophisticated with a touch of fun.
