Project: Winter Infographic for a Magazine Case Study
Project Goal: To create an infographic to inspire people to keep active during the colder months.
(This is a fictional brief I followed from the briefbox.me website)
The Winter Magazine needed…
A designer to create an infographic to inspire and excite their readers in the new ways to keep active during the long, chilly winter months. The name of the piece was ‘How to keep fit this winter (like a boss!)’. They were looking for a modern infographic, with a creative approach to illustrations and typography. The magazines’ audience are young, creative professionals and students who have a love for all things design-led.
Process
I first began researching the activities I wanted to include in my infographic, which included yoga, ice-skating and active TV watching. Once my activities were chosen I drew a quick sketch on a piece of paper of each of the activities and where they would be laid out on the page. A crucial part of my research process was also the choice of colours. I choice shades of blue to give the infographic a wintery feel. I included orange as a contrasting colour so it would stand-out to readers. You may also notice that I tried to keep all text left-aligned, as naturally people read left to right.
Final Piece
The final infographic is a full-page magazine spread with original illustrations. It includes eight winter activities with text explaining each one. As an infographic, I have tried to keep text at a minimal and let the images do the talking. If you have any feedback on this infographic, let me know via my contact form.
